Coaching

The CIPD (Chartered Institute of Proffessional Developers) defines coaching as "developing a persons skills and knowledge so that their job performance improves, hopefully leading to the acheivement of organisational objectives. It targets high performance and improvement at work." CIPD 2006.

In a recent survey by the CIPD it was found that 64% of respondents reported using external coaching practitionars.

The same survey also reported that 84% of line managers regard coaching as effective or very effective with 96% of respondents had stated that coaching had a positive impact on performance.

So what is Coaching?
Coaching is about working with an individual or group to help them explore there thoughts and ideas, helping them realise and fulfil there true potential.

Coaching has distinctive characteristics such as providing people like with feedback on their strengths and weaknesses, supporting change in attitudes and behaviour. Enabling people to refocus and critic their approaches, helps to identify barriers and limiting beliefs, enables empowerment and commitment to performance goals.
